Donkey Basketball : A good time was had by all on this beautiful, sunny February 25th. A sold out crowd gathered at the Braxton county Armory which held a fund raiser for the Central WV Riding Club. A new barn will be raised with the proceeds for the horses at Holly Gray Park near Sutton. As you can see in the pictures, it was standing room only!

Cabell County Horse Club : Many years have passed since there was an Easter squall like we experienced this past Saturday/Sunday. After a week with 70 and 80 degree weather, temperatures plummeted to 20 degrees with the wind chill and blowing snow to greet members and guests. Despite these conditions, the club showed up in force!! Love for horses outweighed the fallen temps!
All pics are in, within the week! If you don't find yourself in some shots it's only because I failed to capture you at your best! I promise to next time! It was fun. Cold but fun!

NWVQHA in Philippi : So, here I am in Barbour county, winter it seems, has lost it's grip! A nice weekend greets members of the NWVQHA. Nearly 100 classes within two days! May everyone stay safe this horse-show season!
Please be patient while I sort these out, edit, crop, lighten, darken, etc. Thank you David and Darin for allowing me the honor of shooting your show. Also, a big hello and thanks to all those at the Horsefly Cafe'.
And the judges (Jim Isley and Debbie Coverlier) for allowing me in the ring(s). And the ringmaster! You know who you are! The red lobster look will fade with time! No complaints!
Pictures are formatted as 4x6's at $7 each but you can order other sizes from your shopping cart.

Please note you can request names on pics (free), also if you would rather have a file (for personal use) than a pic, they are $50 each. Rolled or mounted canvas prints are available in your shopping cart; sizes from 11x14 to 30x40

As I work through these wonderful photos, I feel a sense of pride in your club! Well dressed riders on beautiful horses. No wonder you attract horse lovers from PA and beyond!

My notes: I realize the task I've taken as a lone photographer is massive at this show! I work on your pics every waking moment so you can enjoy and maybe purchase those you like. I want to thank each of you
for your patience! I'm over the half-way point now, should wrap these up by the 4th of May or sooner. Yours in Philippi, JD.

A Day In Danville : The 1st show of the season for the Southern West Virginia Horsemans Association.
Judge Keith Becknell from Winchester Kentucky presided.
It was just some weeks ago that a flood with waters as high as 8-10 feet overtook the entire showgrounds, not even sparing the homes of the horses living there!

Members came back in fine style, restoring the damaged arena to its pre-flood form.
Many, including the judges wife, couldn't tell there was a flood. A job well done.
On with the show!
Be sure to check other photos, for friends!
Playing cards are now available in your shopping cart! And don't forget canvas is available, just email me (or call) for a price. Thanks.

Jesse Knows Horses : a place of twi-monthly shows and located deep in the heart of horse country, Jesse WV brags of riders from Kentucky and Virginia.
Judges Gary Huff from Long Branch and Joe Conn from Simon officiated. Helped along by one of the "Muddy Bottom Boys" from Pineville, Mr. Robie Castle. On intermission he showed some of his singing and dancing along with group member Acie Cline on guitar.

Professional photographers shoot the big shows, skipping over the county/state shows. People and horses exist in the smaller shows and is why I travel the state of West Virginia to photograph the beautiful shows there! Sometimes the big boys don't know what they are missing!

Days at Daybrook : Yes, it's the last show of the season for this bunch of cowpokes. May they ride into the sunset knowing they showed their horses well.
A tragedy happened on the way home from the show. My brakes went out on my car as I exited the interstate. Life is surely in your own hands at that moment! Circumstances saved me and your pictures. Special thanks to Rob Berry for his direction! This has set me back but please be patient as I work on your photos. I enjoyed our last show this season. May you all have the needed rest you deserve, till next year! Love you all, JD. I'm sorry the pictures were not viewable on the laptop. I have a tent for next time so you can view the pictures from the day before. The sun and laptop monitors don't work well together. The Belleville Homecoming was a huge success! Because of the above stated mechanical difficulties I missed the parade. Otherwise the horse show drew many fine riders from our region. Even George from Elizabeth was there, though he was missing a boot! Fine food and cooler temps made for a (chilly) nice day! I delivered a custom made, PVC horse jump (with adjustments from 10" to 5'(!)) to the "Horse 'N' Around riding club. New jumps were made the property of the club, so grievers couldn't take them back. This way our young ones can develop their jumping skills without fear of classes being cut. Encourage your friends to sign-up for the jumping class! Practice at intermission. It's a class enjoyed by young and old alike. All pics are in at 130! Thank you and good night!
